Why Morocco? Just because you can find adventure, culture, history, and wilderness in one single trip. This is a country filled with majestic palaces, beautiful museums, tasty and healthy cuisine full of herbs and spices, and stunning natural landscapes.

The Kingdom of Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior, large areas of desert, and a lengthy coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. For travelers, this country offers excellent value for money, no matter if you stay in simple accommodation or treat yourself to a stay in traditional riads you can do that without breaking the bank. It is a real bargain!

It is geographically very close to Spain, yet it seems very far from Europe. The years of French and Spanish colonial rules and the presence of modern and cosmopolitan cities have not changed the Moroccan past that can still be felt throughout the country.

What to see?

Casablanca and Tangier are probably the country’s most popular places to shop. Marrakesh, Fez, Rabat, and Meknes have all, at some point in time, been the capital of Morocco. All have amazing cultural heritage. Riads are traditional houses or palaces that have interior gardens. Today, many riads have been turned into hotels.  Another place worth a visit is Chefchaouen (the cannabis capital) with its famous blue and white painted houses. The Dades Valley offers some of Morocco’s most spectacular scenery.

What to eat?

Another reason to visit Morocco is the food. Tagine is the most iconic of all Moroccan dishes, a stew that originates with the Berber people. Couscous is probably more famous and it is also cheap, easily stored, and non-perishable. For lovers of eggplant and tomatoes, zaalouk is very delicious, especially when spread on traditional Moroccan flatbread.
