Lipari is the largest and most populous of the Aeolian islands. It has more to offer compared to the others but, because of this, it loses a bit of the fascination of an island. You could visit the fortified acropolis and the Aeolian Archaeological Museum. The most famous restaurant in Lipari is Filippino. However, that is just a name while the food is 100% Sicilian and it tastes delicious. The Island of Lipari for centuries was the world center for pumice production as you can see from the former mines on the hillsides.
